Our Beliefs

What We Believe About The Scriptures

We believe where scripture speaks God speaks (1 Thess 2:13).

We believe that all of scripture is God-breathed (2 Tim 3:16).

It is stated, “For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Pet 1:21 ESV).

What We Believe About The True and living God

We believe in one God (Deut 6:4).

This one God is eternal and exists in three persons, Father,Son and Holy Spirit (John 8:58, John 17:5, Heb 9:14, Matt 28:19).

The members of the Trinity are co-equal and each member of the Godhead is fully God (Jude 1:1, Col 2:9, John 20:28, John 1:1, John 10:30, Acts 5:3-4, 2 Cor 3:17).

What We Believe About Man

Men and women were both created in the image of God (Gen 1:27).

The image was marred because of sin.

Man sinned and rebelled against God causing total depravity (Rom 3:10-18, Eph2:1).

Sin and death entered the world through Adam (Rom 5:12). Sin is the result of both physical and spiritual death (Rom 6:23).

What We Believe About Salvation

We believe Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven (John 14:6, Acts 4:12).

Salvation cannot be earned or merited by works.

Salvation is a free gift from God that must be received by faith (Eph 2:8, Rom 5:1, Rom 6:23).

A person must repent and believe in the Gospel (Mark 1:15).

A person has a right standing with God solely on the condition of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 11:18, 20:21, 26:20, Luke 13:3, Gal 2:16, 2 Peter 3:9, 2 Tim 2:25, Rom 10:9).

A person must be born again (John 3:7).

A person is saved by God’s Grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8-9).

A person is saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone in Christ alone for the glory of God alone.

What We Believe About Eternity

We believe that for everyone who has truly repented of their sins and trusted in Christ alone for their salvation will go to a place called Heaven (Phil 3:20, 1 Cor 2:9, 2 Cor 5:8). Where he or she will enjoy being in the presence of the Lord for all of eternity.

For those who reject Christ and refuse to repent, will fall under the judgement of God and will spend eternity in a place called Hell (Rev 20:12-15, Rev 21:8, Matt 25:46, Jude 1:7).

What We Believe About the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity.

Jesus is coequal and coeternalwith the Father (John 10:30, John 17:5).

Jesus is God in the flesh, He is fully God and fully man (John 1:1, 1:14).

Christ was born of a virgin named Mary (Luke 1:27, Matt 1:21-23, Luke 1:34-35).

Christ lived a perfect and sinless life (John 8:46, 1 Pet 2:22).

Jesus went to the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. God raised Jesus from the dead three days later demonstrating that He accepted his son as a sacrifice for those who repent and believe (Rom 4:25, Acts 2:32, 3:15, 5:30).

After Jesus made purification for sins He went and he sat at the right hand of God (Heb 1:3, 1 Peter 3:22, Mark 16:19). Christ is the mediator between God and men and is interceding for us ( 1 Tim 2:5, Rom 8:34).

We believe in the return of Jesus Christ (Matt 24:42, 1 Thess 1:10).

What We Believe About the Ordinances

We believe in carrying out the two ordinances which consist of baptism and the Lord’s supper.

Believers Baptism is where a believer is immersed in water and is baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change.

People who repented and have trusted Christ as their Lord are commanded to be baptized (Matt 28:19-20, Acts 2:38, 2:41, 19:4).

Baptism is an identification in Christ’s death burial and resurrection (Rom 6:3-5).

We carry out the Lord’s Supper which consists of taking two elements.

The bread symbolizes the body of Christ and grape juice is used to symbolize the blood of Christ that was shed for us.

We take communion to remember what Christ has done for us and to proclaim his death until he comes (1 Cor 11:23-34, Matt 26:26-29).
